Domburg

Now we stand silent side by side
like high dunes shoulder to shoulder
and see Domburg down below
for the first time in years.

There was a time when we could walk on water
and lived off drink and kisses.
We dressed ourselves with dune sand
and played our game
until sleep interrupted us.
But Domburg,
so close and around us
was too far away in the distance.

Now we stand silent side by side.
And have everything we desired.
